Terms of Service

By downloading, installing, or using StudyNotes AI ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and StudyNotes AI, operated by Aleksander Hamre Evensen (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

1. Acceptance of Terms

Your use of the App constitutes acceptance of these Terms as well as the referenced Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use the App.
  • Users under 18 must have parental consent.
  • You must comply with all applicable laws.
  • An Apple ID is required for subscription features.

3. License to Use

3.1 Grant of License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.

3.2 Restrictions

You may NOT:

  • Modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Rent, lease, sell, or sublicense the App
  • Remove or alter copyright or proprietary notices
  • Use the App for illegal or unauthorized purposes
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Use automated tools to access or scrape the App

4. Subscriptions and Payments

4.1 Subscription Plans

The App offers:

  • Monthly Plan: 79 NOK per month
  • Yearly Plan: 799 NOK per year

Prices may vary due to Apple’s currency conversion and local taxes.

4.2 Free Trial

Free trials may be offered. Cancelling before the trial ends avoids charges.

4.3 Auto-Renewal

  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Your Apple account is charged within 24 hours of renewal.
  • Manage or cancel via iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions.

4.4 Refunds

Payment and refunds are handled exclusively by Apple via reportaproblem.apple.com.

4.5 Changes to Pricing

We may adjust pricing. Existing subscribers receive at least 30 days’ notice.

5. User Content and Ownership

5.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of notes, scans, OCR text, and AI-generated content.

5.2 License to Process Content

By using AI features, you grant us a temporary license to process your content through Supabase Edge Functions and OpenRouter solely to provide the requested functionality.

5.3 Prohibited Content

You may NOT upload content that:

  • Violates laws or regulations
  • Infringes intellectual property rights
  • Contains malware or harmful code
  • Is obscene, defamatory, or harassing
  • Promotes violence, discrimination, or illegal activity

6. AI-Generated Content

6.1 No Guarantee of Accuracy

AI-generated content is provided "as is". Always verify important material.

6.2 Third-Party AI Service

AI processing uses Supabase Edge Functions and OpenRouter. We are not responsible for their availability or errors.

7. Intellectual Property

The App’s design, code, graphics, and documentation are owned by StudyNotes AI, operated by Aleksander Hamre Evensen. You may not use our trademarks without permission.

8. iCloud Sync

  • iCloud sync is optional and requires an active iCloud account.
  • Your iCloud storage limits apply.
  • We are not responsible for iCloud outages or data loss.
  • Apple's iCloud Terms of Service apply.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.

10. Limitation of Liability

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages. Total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the last 12 months.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising from your breach of these Terms or misuse of the App.

12. Termination

12.1 By You

You may delete the App and cancel your subscription at any time.

12.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent/harmful activity.

13. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by Norwegian law. EU residents retain statutory consumer rights.

15. Dispute Resolution

Before filing a legal claim, contact us atdev_monkey@outlook.comso we can attempt an informal resolution.

16. Severability

If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, along with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and StudyNotes AI.

18. Apple App Store Terms

  • These Terms are between you and us, not Apple.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance.
  • Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
  • Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms.
  • Apple's Terms of Service and App Store guidelines apply.
